About Us
BloodTechNet is a not-for-profit learning network for Canadian medical laboratory technologists in Transfusion Science. It is administered by Canadian Blood Services, with unrestricted funding provided by Grifols. We promote and support continuing education and facilitate exchange of expertise among peers in Transfusion Science.
To that end, we have undertaken two activities:
Learning Survey
The first is A Survey of Canadian MLTs’ Views on Continuing Education in Transfusion Science. This survey asked 669 Canadian MLTs their opinions, experiences and expectations in four aspects of learning: participation in continuing education; quality and access of learning opportunities; expertise and learning goals; and participation in the transfusion community.
The Learning Competition
The results of the learning survey left us with the question, what can we do better in meeting MLTs' expectations? The second activity is a response to that question. The Learning Competition is designed to support — and inspire — novel initiatives that support learning among Canadian MLTs in Transfusion Science.
