My first thought is that this worthwhile project is something CBS should be
doing for its customers. When I investigated something similar in 2004 for
the TraQ program of the BC PBCO and contacted CBS, several issues were
identified (see below). I think CBS was planning to do something itself but
the logistics were too onerous. 1. Manufacturers websites may be USA and
insert information is "country-specific" 2. To avoid bias (real or imagined):
- list products alphabetically - list product even if no insert is available
- limit to products licensed in Canada (or available via the Special Access
Programme) - limit to products stocked by CBS and H-Q 3. To ensure inserts
are current: - link to inserts on Canadian manufacturer's websites 4. Terms
of use and disclaimer need to be prominent due to legal liability Good luck.
Cheers, Pat
We have spoken to Josephine Cymbulski, a Plasma Protein Specialist with CBS,
and it doesn't appear that this is on the to-do list for CBS. When we checked
the manufacture's web sites, there is information for Canadian customers
available. All of the suggestions in point number 2 have been included in our
work plan. In regards to point number 4, we have already decided to put a
disclaimer on the poster. Thanks for all of your comments. They are all great
ideas. Robyn
Hi Robyn & collaborators, I have certainly received feedback that this is a
welcome resource, despite the onerous task of keeping it up to date. In your
budget details, you mention an annual poster review for 3 years;
unfortunately, the Learning Competition can only provide funding for one
year. Will you try to keep this poster up to date after 2012?
